  1. That's a four pin Molex power supply connector.

The letter/number on them mean nothing. You can plug any of them, to any hardware component that uses them, inside you computer. P1, P2, P3, P4, etc.

Hmmmm, hardware component that's black, and has pins in it. Well THAT, narrows it down! lol!

Sounds like it's your harddrive. Were you cleaning the dust out, with the computer plugged into the AC source of electricity?

    This is a No-No!

Were you using a can of compressed air for computers? Did you happen to read the label with the directions on it? It will say UN-PLUG the computer FIRST.

Did you de-static yourself, before you reached inside? Your body contains static. Just walking across carpet, will build a tremendous charge of static electricity! Work on a table. Not on a bed, a couch, or directly on a carpet floor. STATIC!

With the computer un-plugged from AC electricity, all you have to do is touch the metal frame of the computer case. If you walk away, then return, touch the metal frame again.

Harddrive's are not a Plug n' Play device. You cannot have a harddrive un-plugged from the power supply, and have the computer plugged into electricity, and then plug the power supply cable back in.

    You will 'toast' the harddrive!

It also sounds like more than just this power supply cable is un-plugged. Could be the flat ribbon cable,(Harddrive interface cable), isn't seated in all the way, could be a ram stick,(Or if you have more than one, it could be any, or all of them), has been jostled loose. Could be the 20/24 pin ATX connector isn't seated in all the way. (Long whitish connector that has 20 or 24 socket holes in it. It comes from the power supply, and plugs into the motherboard. There is a piece of plastic on the side of this connector, that locks it into place.)

If this is a Intel processor used in this computer, and it's a Pentium 4 or better processor, there is a small square, four pin connector that comes from the power supply, and plugs into the motherboard. This is the power for the Intel processor. If this isn't seated in all the way, or has come loose, the processor won't work.

    1.What a harddrive looks like:

2.Four pin power cable from power supply to motherboard, for the Intel processor:

(Scroll down to the fourth row. It's the '4 pin ATX+12 volt power cable'.
