Owed back local taxes to a borough in Pennsylvania. Moved out of state. Can they attach my wages? From what I read on the PA State code, the answer is "no", but I want reiteration on this? Thanks

  1. Local tax collectors in PA are basically toothless and can not attach wages, especially those paid in other states.  Be sure you really owe the money.  If you don't, write them a letter explaining why not.  If you do owe the taxes, you really should pay them even if you don't live in PA anymore.  It is the right thing to do.  Besides, if you ever move back to PA, they could come after you.  Why burn bridges?  Why have a mark against you?  How much tax could it really be?  You are concerned enough about it to write a question here, why not get rid of the money and pay the amount?  But like I said, be sure you really owe the money first.
