I want to have a really loud sound system next year for house parties, so I am going to buy these PA speakers and a sub how do i connect them so that:

1. They play through our tv if wanted.

2. They play music off of a ipod or laptop headphone jack.

  1. I would highly recommend you NOT connect PA speakers to your sound system. They will be too loud with POOR SOUND QUALITY. There is a reason why you don't hear of many people doing this. All you are going to do with PA speakers is annoy your neighbors and damage your hearing. Just use bigger stereo speakers like everyone else.

  2. i wouldn't hook up PA speakers to your home stereo system either. most pro audio amps only have two channels, so you wont be able to hook up the subwoofer anyway, without getting another amp, and some sort of mixer.

i would get, however, a nice stereo amp, and a pair of nice floor standing speakers. when i worked at circuit city, i was really impressed with onkyo's stereo receiver tx8511(now they have a tx8522). and with that, i hooked up at pair of Polk Audio monitor 70s...and let me tell you, it was loud, and the sound was amazing. nice and clear, plenty of low end, crisp highs. you would not be disappointed.

but, do some research, and go to stores and listen to different speakers, but floor standing speakers would give you the best sound all around...better than PA speakers.

  3. Not only you need powerful speakers, you also need powerful amplifiers.

Look into JBL Pro Sound, they have some with integrated amplifiers.
