There comes a time in life when you hit a crossroad...

Okay, let's get to the point, my college major. Yes, it is a "major" decision.

I'm thinking about a field in graphic design since I love computers and I love art. But I'm not as experienced in graphic design as I am in painting and traditional media...

I also want to be a real estate investor. I know, big jump! Art or investing. I've read many articles about house investing and I'm really interested in the topic.

And another major possibility. Psychologist. I took Advanced Placement Psychology in highschool, last year. I made A's in the class and took the national college board test and earn college credit for level one Psychology Class. I love the topic of psychology...so...

I'm so undecided. Should I just "enie meenie miney" mo it? How did u choose ur college major?

  1. wow your amazing!!

  2. Hey i also whant to be a computer disiner becouse i love are and comps to it is a great carear you can always go to school for it.

  3. you've got talent. I don't really know what to suggest. I guess you should just go for what you enjoy doing the most, or the one your most experienced in.

  4. youre very talented. but from the looks of the pictures and videos, it seems you enjoy are better. i chose my college major on what i enjoyed the most. not the one that would give me a better career or what my parents wanted me to do. Choose the major you would enjoy the most in the future. and if not, you can always change it if you wanted.........but i would go with Art.

  5. sericiously i'm thinking of going into the medical feild... because it makes alot of money!  and i kinda want to give back because i almost died by 12 hours by my apendix ruptured! soo yea i want to make alot of money!!! that's what i want to be bc of the money!

  6. something that has to do with maybe designing video games

  7. You are really talented! Have you ever considered doing art therapy? Then you could use both your love of art and also your talent at Psychology. I chose Pre-Med Biology because the human body fascinates me, and there will always be a need for a doctor in any part of the world.

  8. It sounds and looks to me that you need to decide what is your passion and what do you enjoy. The thing that you are really passionate about may be the thing that you want to do with your life to make a living, but some people will do the thing that they are most passionate about on the side as a hobby. You could very well be a psychologist and paint or do graphic designs on the side. It would be rather difficult for you to be a full-time artist and do psychology on the side. You know what I mean? You don't always have to settle for one or the other. You could also combine 2 of your talents - artistic therapy or you could put your art in the houses you are trying to sell to attract buyers. They may even want you to leave the art and buy that too. THE POWER IS YOURS. Carpe diem.

  9. The money is in real estate. And if you like shopping for houses (like I do) then you can have fun as well.

You're definitely an artist and the great thing about it is that you can do that kind of thing during your free time. As a real estate agent / investor you are in control of your time, so you could end up having your cake and eating too.

  10. *Thumbs up*! Great work. I hold Master degree in fine arts and must say, you have talent. Go for it!

  11. I guess, you just have to look at the big picture.

What would you want to see yourself doing in 10 years?

And which do you love the best doing? If its easier to pick just two, I do a double major or just minor in one of them.

I have a similar issue, I cant decide if I want to pursue sports reporting or advertisement. But i want to major in spanish as well.

So just give it some thought and talk to some advisers as well.

And another thing I've found to be helpful, talk to students who have the same or similar career interest as you. See what they did for internships, what they're thinking about for grad school and such. It really gives you a perspective.

    Good luck!

  12. WOW! We have the same exact interest in degrees, and the same dilemma.... which one to pick?

I see you have a passion for art. Your pieces are excellent. How about this. Do them all. I am dead serious. Which to do first? Art. Try out graphic design. It is a flexible major, and you wont have trouble transferring to softwares that deal with film and traditional art. Even comic artists (loooove comics), have to use Adobe now. C++ programing will become a second language to you... and everyone else will be puzzled as to how to do this and that. Who will they call first? You. Your degree is needed in todays job market. Every company from Apple to Avon relies on graphic design. That is what lures customers in... you could sit back and feel accomplished because your what the company lives on! Psychology is excellent. Artists are thinkers by nature, colors are associated with feelings and so on.... you'd probably have a blast with that major. Try dual majors, that are available at 4 year universities. Its hard work, but I know you can do it!

Community College, isn't bad either. Its rather flexible and short term in the case of being undecided. They have associate degrees, that can be transfered over to bachelors, once you complete your first two years of core classes. That way you are given time to think about what you want to major in. General Liberal Arts is what I would've gotten. Also they provide some other degrees, side classes, and certifications that deal with business management ect if you'd like to invest.  CC, is the best place to start if you want to mix and match your needs. Most startes should have a program that is called dual enrollment. That means, graduate CC, and transfer to a major 4 year university with all your earned credits - and have that assurance that you've made a good decision .

The Arts Institute is a specific education facility offering Associates, Bachelors, and certification. They deal specifically with what you are looking into - and have some new degrees that I believe tie in with art investments. They have a celeb graduate among others, like Tye Pendelton (I think thats his name) - he deals with home design and seen on HGTV, and products sold in Sears now. It's worth the money!

As for jumping into different fields. I think that is awesome! Never let a person tell you to "Make up your mind". They ought to be grateful, another person is so multi tasking and talented. Your ability to do everything, could save a life!

I made a decision with my life this year, that is totaly differnt from what i should've did. Instead of going with my heart, I went with logic. Big mistake...... and my dreams of college may be slightly tainted now..... take it from someone who's been in your shoes....

    Follow your heart & deams!
