My husband worked for his father for 20 years and was told that all of his overtime was going to stock purchases. Then, ha ha ha, the father sold it out from under us. We are broke, but much happier without him in our lives.

I haven't seen my own father since I was very little. I was instead raised by my drug addicted mother and her child molesting, wife abusing husband. How hard would it have been for my father to see if I was being cared for? How is this one? The same child molesting step father I had, was addicted to meth. I had hit a really hard time in my life, become addicted myself, lost my apartment and was living with them. One of his friends invited me to go play darts with him at a friends house. Oddly, my step-dad was ok with me going, very odd since he was usually very controlling (part of his abusive nature). I later learned my step dad was paid by the friend who it turns out was drug dealer. To sum it up, I was sold by my own family. (I no longer have a relationship with either of them, having realized I will never overcome the abuse with them in my lives, and realizing I am a grown up and can love myself more than they ever will). We can not choose our family but we can walk away when they treat us badly.
