Hello, I am looking into a PBX solution for a small business. It appears that most virtual PBX solutions provide you a toll-free or a local number which 'forwards' the calls to your actual phone. The problem is I do not want a 'new' number, because most callers would call to the existing phone number. Is there any virtual PBX that work with an existing phone number? i.e. to set it up in a way that callers call to the existing business number and they are greeted with the extension option of the PBX. Please share your inputs. Thanks!

Hi,
You can configure your DID or Number in GXE5024/GXE5028 and then you can greet your customers with the builtin IVR, DISA will give your customer to reach your extensions or Departments or even if you give access in configuration they can use your trunks.

PBX services can be classified into two categories. Hosted PBX and Virtual PBX.
Both of them will have features of auto attendents (auto answering). Hosted PBX use the real physical IP-Phone as extension, while Virtual PBX just forwarding the call to certain landline number (or cell phone).
I lived in Vancouver, Canada. A local company called TieUs Technology provide the hosted and virtual pbx services to 20 major Canada cities (charged by monthly fee, call to Canada cities is free). If you are in Canada. You can port the existing number to their services, or pick up a new number from different cities.

I personally think the hosted pbx do have some very niche features that traditional PBX might not able to do. For my business, I need two number from two different cities, but all direct to same company directory, and my staff can have choice of working individually at home or just receiving the call on their cell phone while not in office.
