PC recovery troubles?

i have this HP desktop PC that i got from a friend. it needed a restore, so i tried the discs he made from this PC, but they didn't work. so i ordered the official recovery discs from HP and they didn't work. it said "These Recovery discs do NOT support this PC model." But the PC is "stock" and the HDD is freshly formatted. help me save whats left of my sanity!!

  1. Download and try " Hirens Boot CD " this has partition tool plus others on it Try partition Magic and partition into 2 drives.  If this fails try one of the DOS partition tools .

    I used one on the second page of the partition segment

    Also use the " Boot Section " and change the MBR Master Boot Record

    As yours could be set for a particular O/S
