PC resolutions for RCA 42" 1080?

This is my first time hooking up a tv to a pc, im trying to get a higher resolution on my tv but no reolution works besides 1280x720, my TV's model number is L42FHD37, the tv's input is vga and i have it hooked and converted to DVi on my Gforce8800 640Mb. RCA's website says it can go up to 1920x1080 but i cant get it to work.

  1. Looks like only the HDMI inputs are capable for 1080p input.

    So, if you try using VGA, 720p is probably the best it can do.

    However, if you have digital DVI on your PC, get a DVI to HDMI cable and you should be able to go all the way to 1080p, provided the video card supports that resolution as well.
