  1. I'd presume that your laptop just doesn't know it's supposed to be feeding video out the port.  It's happened to me all the time when I'm doing presentations and am hooking up to a projector -- I'm not sure how or why the setting changes.  There should probably be 3 settings:  laptop screen only, laptop screen + (in your case) TV, and TV only.

The toggle on the laptop I'm on right now is fn+F4, although that may vary by brand/model.  See what your F-keys say above them and make an educated guess -- it's undoubtedly one of those plus whatever key you need to hold down to get to the other set of writing on them.

  2. Does your laptops video card have an actual TV-out or are you using the regular output?  You need a TV-out if you don't have it already.

  3. You have to tell the laptop that you've connected it to a TV.

Select My computer---display---settings, you can then select a second monitor.

  4. If you're connecting with a VGA cable, you need to check your TV's manual for the resolution settings it will accept through the PC input, and then set your Laptop to one of those.

If you're using an S cable to connect, then you have to set the TV to the S input, and your laptop to one of the video resolutions your TV will accept. You'll also have to enable the S output-usually one of the function keys toggles it.

  5. Mine works straight away without any software but I have to move over the page that is on my computer screen right over to the far right and it appears on my TV screen, try moving the page around until you can see it on your tv. Hope this helps!

  6. Your graphics card needs to have video-out, and if you can plug av cords into your computer it probably does.

Although, even if it does have video-out, it won't work right away. You would probably need to use the program provided by your graphics card's manufacturer to set it up for use with two monitors. (one being the tv)

You can usually find this software on the manufacturer's website for download.

Most new computers come with a good graphics card that supports video out, but otherwise, you're going to need to buy a new card. (or a TV-tuner)

  7. PC scan rates are different from HD TV or regular TVs. So you need to make sure your TV . This usually can be done by adjusting the cable tuner or source connection of your TV.  There is probably nothing wrong with your video card.  The manufacture of the PC might have a TV adapter for sale , so that might help.
