Question:

PC to HDTV via HDMI cable but no audio?

I have recently bought a laptop (dv6724tx) and plasma (PS42Q91HDX) and connected them through a HDMI cable. I get perfect picture but no audio.

As the laptop has the HDMI output I would imagine that it also has the means of supporting it.

Perhaps there is something so simple that I need to change on the TV or Laptop?

I know I can use a 3.5mm plug to 2 RCA audio cables but considering HDMI cables support both audio and video I would much rather just use the one cable.

  1. But the problem is, your VIDEO CARD may not output your audio signal on the HDMI cable....it normally is designed to send the audio signal to your audio card so it can process the audio....

One of these days, computer manufacturers and software designers will have to take this into consideration....

    But they haven't.....yet.

Maybe Vista 2.0 and Athlon 5.7 Ghz notebooks will.

    We can always hope....

  2. yep....ur video card wont handle audio and video.  u can use the 2 rca to 3.5mm thing though.  check if ur laptop has an spdif output.  thats much better than the 3.5mm.
