PC version of Batman: Arkham City is delayed for a second time
Rocksteady have confirmed that the PC version of Batman: Arkham City has hit another bump in the already bumpy road to its release, after the developer announced that the game has been delayed yet again.
Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to one the biggest surprise hits in recent gaming history, Batman: Arkham Asylum. While the game’s console versions have already been released and done rather well for themselves in terms of both review scores and sales, the PC version has been suffering from a frustrating release cycle.
The PC version of the game was originally delayed and no specific released date was given with ‘November’ the only thing hinted at. However, later on it’s was announced that the game was scheduled to hit shelves on the 18th of November, which brought some respite for the eager PC gamers.
Even that has been taken away from them though, as Rocksteady have pushed the game back an extra seven days. Now scheduled for the 25th of November, Batman: Arkham City seems to remain just out of the grasp of every Batman loving PC gamer.
The reasons given for the previous delay may very well be the same for this one as well, though no one at Rocksteady has come forward and commented on any specifics. Therefore we shall take the original reason and reapply it to this, the second, delay.
The game was originally pushed back because the developers wanted time to perfect the game for each specific SKU, or Stock Keeping Unit. While development on consoles went smoothly, the development of the PC version has not gone as smoothly.
The studio claimed that they wanted to take advantage of each platform’s strengths and that development for the PC version posed a few more issues than its console cousins.
In an effort to put the gamers at ease the studio also announced that the extra wait would be worth it as the developers were busy polishing the game to make it stand out on its own.
Batman: Arkham City topped the respective console video game sales charts on its release and has been in the top four spots in the United Kingdom since then. It has sold over 2-million units in its first week and with a PC version yet to be released Warner Bros., the game’s publishers, can expect a few extra ‘coppers’ for their piggy bank.
While gamers in Europe and the United Kingdom have to wait a full seven days extra for the game to release on the 25th of November, gamers across the ‘pond’ in North America will be getting their hands on the PC version of the game three days earlier on the 22nd of November.
Which, if one looks at it, is slightly odd seeing how the game was developed in the United Kingdom.
