PC won't Start windows normally

Question

my pc was working fine until my kids used it and now the pc will turn on but the screen tells me that windows did not start successfully and gives me the choice of starting on safe mode, safe mode with Networking of safe mode with command prompt. What is wrong? and what should i do?.
