PCB Chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 claims to have brought improvement in Pakistan Cricket
The Chairman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), Ijaz Butt, has claimed to have successfully crushed players’ power in the Pakistan national team.
Butt has been tight-lipped since the past few months, letting other Board officials deal with the media.
However, in a fresh interview to a local newspaper, the PCB boss said that the players’ power has now been completely eradicated due to the some strong steps taken in the last couple of years.
"Let me assure you that players power of the past does not exist in the national team at the moment as I have taken severe actions to eradicate it," Butt said.
The Chairman added, "To crush player power I penalised even prominent players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 without showing any reluctance which in the past had damaged the team spirit.”
Butt, who has been the head of PCB since October 2008, described that the major reason behind the issue was the attitude problem of some senior members of the team.
The disciplinary issues have always been a highlight of Pakistan cricket history. In the just-concluded ICC World Cup 2011, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 was slapped with a heavy fine of $2000 for multiple disciplinary offences.
Butt further stated that the board has taken some strict actions against undisciplined players. When asked about the recent clash between Shahid Afridi and the coach, Waqar Younis, Butt explained that there is nothing serious in that. However, he made it
clear the duo would be hurled out of the team if they did not settle down the issue.
PCB has already served a show cause notice to Afridi for making internal matters public. However, Butt elucidated PCB will take actions after receiving tour report from the manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380.
Butt, who has always been criticised for his poor performance as the head of Pakistan cricket, further expressed that the Board is in much better financial position than when he took over the charge. He said that when he became the chairman, PCB had reserves
of just 1.6 billion rupees but currently board’s reserves are worth 3.2 billion rupees.
