PCB Chief wants Amir to undergo intensive counseling once ICC clears him - Cricket News Update

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf, on Tuesday said that he wants the convicted teenage pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 to undergo intensive counselling once he gets ICC's clearance.

Amir, along with two other teammates - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Lord’s, in August 2010. The trio was handed lengthy bans by an anti-corruption tribunal of the International Cricket
Council (ICC) in February last year.
Besides, the trio was also found guilty of conspiring to cheat and conspiring to obtain and accept corrupt payments by the crown court in London, and were handed jail sentences ranging from six months to 30 months, last October.
Amir, was given a six-month jail sentence by the crown court, and will be released from the jail in UK by next month.
The PCB chief also hinted that Amir could be considered for selection, but only after the ICC clears him. However, he did opine that giving him another chance in the national side would be solely on selectors’ discretion.
Ashraf said that there is no doubt about the teenager’s talent; however, he made it clear that the board would never sympathise with players who bring a bad name to the country.
"There is no doubt about his immense talent but it is also a fact that we cannot condone the shame he and the two other players have brought to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755,” said Ashraf. “We will never support any player who indulges in such criminal and unethical activities,"
he asserted.
Ashraf admitted that losing two great bowlers in Amir and Asif to the spot-fixing controversy was a huge setback for the country's cricket. However, he reiterated that the board would help or provide any assistance to Amir or his other two companions in
their appeals against ICC bans.
