PCB Permits Five Players To Fly Abroad
The Pakistan Cricket Board has allowed five of its national players to fly abroad for shooting a World Cup promotional advertisement.
The players include skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Younis Khan and Abdul Razzaq. These players will fly to Malaysia for a two-day visit and will take part in the shoot.
A PCB spokesperson said, “The PCB stopped them because it wanted all the players to attend the camp, since their schedule has been changed, the players can travel to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949 after the conclusion of the camp on December 15.”
These players were scheduled to leave for Malaysia this week, but due to the clash of the shooting dates with the dates of the training camp set in Lahore, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) barred the players from going abroad.
The PCB felt that every player selected for the New Zealand tour needed to be present in the training camp and the senior most players of the team just could not be excused on the pretext of a commercial shoot.
This situation arose, as the dates of the training camp had not been announced when the players agreed to work in the commercial. However, once the dates of the camp were announced it was quite clear to the players that they would
not be able to take part in the shoot because the PCB wanted all members of the squad to be present during the training sessions.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour is Pakistan’s last major event before the 2011 World Cup and the PCB will be forming its World Cup strategy according to the performance of the team in the tour. It is equally important for the players to give
their best show in New Zealand because the players who will do well, have better prospects of making it to the World Cup squad than those who fail to impress the selectors.
The spot-fixing fiasco has forced the PCB to change a lot in its code of conduct and now the board has been extra cautious in letting its players take part in activities outside the ground. The board has revamped the code of conduct
with stiff rules and regulations, which means that the players need to get permission from the board before taking part in any commercials or endorsements.
