PCB and BCCI eager for an Indo-Pak series – News Update
The Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) are eagerly looking forward to a series between India and Pakistan next year in March-April.
According to close source to the Indian board, most of the things have been finalised for the much awaited clash between the arch rivals. However, the government in India has not yet given the final clearance due to which the schedule is not yet confirmed.
The neighbouring countries have not featured against one another in a bilateral series since their clash in 2007. They did go head to head in different International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) events including the Semi-Final of the World Cup 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, the chairman of the PCB, had recently visited India in order to discuss the possibility of a bilateral series and claimed that the talks held were quite positive.
According to butt, “I held discussions with Indian officials. Both countries have shown their eagerness for the revival of the series. We are working on finalising terms and conditions and fans will hear the good news soon.”
However, the PCB chief has lately demanded the Indian team to play a return series, which they were supposed to play after Pakistan’s visit to India in 2007.
He made it clear that the Men in Green will only finalise the Indian tour once the arch rivals face each other in a series hosted by Pakistan.
There has been no cricket on the Pakistan soil after the Sri Lankan team’s buss was attacked in Lahore back in 2009. This also cost the country a chance to host the World Cup in 2011, which was a big loss for the team and the fans.
However, the security situation has improved in the past few years and a couple of teams have shown their interest in visiting the troubled country. One of them was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, which wanted to play in Pakistan before the start of the Mega Event.
The boards were unable to finalise a schedule though, as the Men in Green were playing cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and did not have much time to host a series.
