PCB astonished at BCB’s latest position – Cricket News update
PCB officials expressed dismay over the recent stance taken by the BCB president, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122, over the anticipated Bangladeshi tour to Pakistan next month. Kamal had earlier stated that the Bengalis would not tour Pakistan unless the ICC appoints its
officials for the proposed tournament.
The efforts of Pakistani officials to restore international cricket in Pakistan have received wavering reactions, over the last couple of weeks from different cricketing quarters around the world.
The BCB officials who had earlier expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements in Pakistan appeared to be drifting away when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamal-c70069 expressed his fresh reservations. Similarly ICC had offered passive support in the beginning but it now appears to
have withdrawn that too.
The disappointing reaction by BCB over the ICC’s refusal to appoint match officials for the proposed series seems to have taken the PCB officials by surprise.
“As far as getting clearance from its government is concerned, that was a condition from the start and acceptable to the PCB. But this new condition that if only the ICC gave clearance and appointed match officials could the tour go ahead has come out of
the blue” said a PCB representative.
International cricket was banned in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the aftermath of the March 2009 attack on the visiting Sri Lankan team in Lahore, which left several policemen dead, while injuring a number of players as well. Pakistan since then has become a no-go zone for
cricket teams around the world.
The PCB officials were hopeful as BCB representatives had given the security clearance for the series leaving only the government approval to be taken for the tournament. However, the fresh conditions put up by Kamal are seen as a prelude to the cancellation
of proposed bilateral series.
Both PCB and BCB officials are disappointed at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s reaction over extending support to the cause of restoring International cricket in Pakistan.
“The ICC is not even willing to send a team to inspect the security protocol we are putting in place for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 series. How does the ICC then expect international teams to tour Pakistan?” a PCB official remarked.
While an official decision is yet to be announced, BCB’s altered stance has casted gloom over the approval of the much awaited series in Pakistan.
