PCB awaits itinerary for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Tour – Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that they are still awaiting the schedule for their team’s tour of India later this year, with the BCCI yet to reveal the itinerary for the ice-breaking bilateral series.
“I had enquired from the BCCI officials during the recent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397. “So we are also awaiting it. But obviously they will announce it as it is their
home series.
“The positive thing is after such a long time a bilateral series has been okayed and obviously the schedule will be announced after proper clearances,” Ashraf added.
The strained diplomatic relations between the two nations have often seeped into their sporting ties, as was the case following the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, which saw India breaking off all ties with Pakistan.
The two teams last played a bilateral series in 2007, when the Men in Green toured their neighbouring country. India was due to tour Pakistan for a reciprocal series in early 2009, but the tour was called off owing to a directive from the government after
the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks.
What followed was a complete break in ties, with both teams only facing each other in international events (such as the 2011 World Cup semi-final, or during the Asia Cup in Dhaka this year), and Pakistani players denied participation in the lucrative Indian
Premier League.
Added to the strained relations was the uncertainty surrounding the security situation in Pakistan, after the visiting Sri Lankan team found themselves the victims of a terrorist attack in March 2009.
However, a thaw in the relations between the two boards was observed earlier this year – Ashraf was invited by the BCCI to watch the Indian Premier League final in Chennai, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions were granted entry into the 2012 edition of the
Champions League Twenty20.
Talks for a bilateral series were said to be in the works, and shortly afterwards, on July 16, the BCCI announced that India would be hosting Pakistan for series of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is later this month, during an interval in between England’s tour of India,
in December 2012/January 2013. However, the exact dates and venues are yet to be confirmed.
