PCB backs under-fire Pak skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 post Asia Cup– Cricket News Round-up – March 28, 2012 – Part 2
Refuting all rumours about their dissatisfaction with Misbah-Ul-Haq’s captaincy, the Pakistan cricket Board expressed their support for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper.
Following a 0-4 defeat to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the ODI series earlier this year, the 37-year-old’s captaincy was described as apathetic, and critics slammed him for being too passive on field. However, the right-hander managed to steer the Men In Green to victory
in the recently wrapped-up Asia Cup in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
Praising Misbah for his sensible approach, and ability to avoid controversial statements while talking to the media, the PCB praised him for performing well under pressure, and serving as an “excellent ambassador for Pakistan cricket.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330 is certain his current mediocre performances will keep him out of the Aussie playing XI for the upcoming Test series against the Windies.
The 32-year-old managed 6 wickets at 29.83 during the last two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 earlier this year. His outings during the ensuing Commonwealth Bank series Down Under, however, proved costly for his side, and
he was eventually dropped.
In comparison, pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197 took 23. With more accomplished players contending for a spot in the line-up,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 has hinted that he does not expect to be called up for national duty as the first Test kicks off on April 7 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
Former Pakistan captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084 has offered to assemble a World XI which can play against the Men In Green in Pakistan.
Owing to security concerns following the 2009 debacle, during which the visiting Sri Lankan team found themselves a target of terrorist attacks in Lahore, Pakistan have been unable to host a series on home soil. Looking to end the drought, the PCB attempted
to host Bangladesh, but with that plan starting to look doubtful, the board has expressed interest in arranging a match with a suitable World XI.
Latif has volunteered to help bring the plan to fruition, claiming that he is willing to get in touch with players he knows owing to his association with the Lashings club in England, if the PCB is willing to cover the costs involved.
