PCB bars Mohsin Khan from holding press conference - Cricket news
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stopped the former Test player and chief selector of the national selection committee, Mohsin Khan, from appearing in front of the media for a press conference.
Mohsin Khan had Tuesday threatened to resign from his post expressing disappointment over some of the selections made for Pakistan's Test series against West Indies.
A Pakistan Cricket Board statement issued Wednesday said that chairman of the national selection committee, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595, has done a wonderful job for the PCB over the past year.
According to reports, the PCB official stated, “The selection process for selecting a National Squad is that the Selection Committee selects the team, which is then sent to Chairman PCB for his approval. This is mandatory.”
“If required, the Chairman PCB consults the Chairman Selection Committee on the selected squad and after due deliberation the squad is approved and announced.”
The PCB statement said that the National Selection Committee and Tour Selection Committee were two different bodies and no one can interfere in the matters of another. However, they can seek help from each other at various times.
The PCB statement also said that due process was followed by the Board in selection of the squad for the upcoming Test series. The statement further added that Mohsin Khan was asked to come to PCB headquarters in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore to explain his views
to the Board, which he failed to do.
PCB expressed, “Following the submission of Test Squad for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760’ tour for which the process stated in Para 2 above was duly followed. Mr. Khan was requested to come to PCB headquarters and explain his views to the Chairman PCB if required. He
could not come due to illness of his wife”
According to media reports, PCB would take serious actions against the chief selector if he plans to hold a press conference in future, without informing the board. As this would be a violation of the Code of Conduct of PCB.
Mohsin Khan has played for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team from 1978 to 1986. This right-hander has played a total of 48 Test scoring 2709 runs at an average of 37.10. He has also played 75 One Dayers in which he has scored 1877 runs at an average of 26.81.
