Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a new step to reform Pakistan cricket after being surrounded by controversies for many months.
The PCB rejected the request of five Pakistani players to release them for a few days for their “personal engagements.”
These personal engagements were to participate in an advertising campaign for the upcoming World Cup 2011 scheduled to start from February in the sub-continent.

The PCB is conducting a training camp in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore from Wednesday 8 December ahead of the tour of New Zealand.
Afridi, Pakistan’s One Day skipper especially appealed to the PCB on Monday to announce the World Cup squad or at least name the probable players.
“We need to start working soon with the bunch of players to make the World Cup, as it is a very important tournament and I don’t want the team to mess up this time,” Afridi said.
Pakistan has been in the news for quite some time but for all the wrong reasons. The summer of 2010 was marred by spot-fixing allegations on three Pakistani players including former Test captain Salman Butt and young fast bowlers Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad
Asif. A news tabloid unravelled the video showing a bookie, Mazher Majeed telling how the Pakistani players agreed to fix the fourth Test between England and Pakistan. He told how he allegedly asked Asif to deliberately bowl no-balls at specific times of the
match.
The three players have been suspended by the International Cricket Council and are being investigated over these allegations. They would be facing the tribunal judge on 6 January, 2011.
