PCB chief eager to resume bilateral series with India - Cricket News Update
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf has reiterated his desire to resume the Indo-Pak cricketing ties, and he has complained that his efforts so far have failed to get a positive response from his counterparts at the Board of Control for
Cricket in India.
Speaking to media reporters on Sunday, the PCB chief said that he has been trying to restore the bilateral series with India but the BCCI officials have not welcomed his efforts in this regard.
"Since I became chairman I have made every effort to see that we play cricket against India. But when I got no proper response,” said Ashraf, who took over as PCB Chairman in October last year after Ijaz Butt’s three-year tenure expired.
Soon after taking up office, the former ZTBL President wrote a letter to his BCCI counterpart expressing his eagerness to restore the bilateral cricketing ties with India as soon as possible. More than four months have passed since then, but the BCCI has
not given a satisfactory response to Ashraf.
Irked by BCCI’s continuous reluctance over the resumption of cricketing ties with Pakistan, even on neutral venues, the PCB chief last week said that the current form of Pakistan could be a reason behind India’s unwillingness to play Pakistan. The controversial
statement got much hype in the media, but Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 clarified his comments by saying, “I just said that I thought perhaps our present form was one reason why India didn't want to play us”.

2009.
Later, the militant attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team in March 2009 further worsened the security situation in Pakistan. No international team has visited the country since then. In the wake of the shameful attacks on the touring Lankan side, Pakistan
also lost the hosting rights for the 2011 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup.
Ashraf was hopeful that international cricket would soon return to Pakistan.
"I am confident that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gareth-Berg-c1457 will break. We have already started working on plans to invite other teams."
