PCB in no mood to host Bangladesh on a neutral venue – Cricket News Update
The Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board, Subhan Ahmed on Tuesday rebuffed any chance of playing next month’s three-match home ODI series against Bangladesh at some neutral venue, in case the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board does not allow its
players to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Speaking to media reporters, Subhan Ahmed made it clear that the PCB is not considering the option of hosting the Bengali Tigers in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758) in case their Bangladeshi counterparts
or their government does not allow the Bangladesh Cricket team to tour Pakistan for a short One Day International series, scheduled to start mid of next month.
"The problem is it would just not be cost effective for us to play them at any neutral venue," said Subhan Ahmed, the Chief Operating Officer of the PCB during a media encounter on Tuesday evening.
Pakistan has not hosted an international cricket match since the terrorist attacks on touring Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore on March 3, 2009. In the aftermath of the lethal attacks – which left seven Sri Lankan players, including assistant coach
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Farbrace-c81060 injured – the terrorism stricken country was deprived of the 2011 World Cup hosting rights.
In a bid to bring international cricket back to the country, PCB chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 in October last year, had invited his BCB counterpart to send his team to Pakistan next month for a short ODI series, but the BCB is
yet to confirm the tour.
Subhan Ahmed revealed that Bangladesh Cricket Board has not yet accepted or rejected the PCB, adding that with time running out it seems difficult that the Bangladesh-Pakistan series would happen, at least in the next couple of weeks.
"The situation doesn't seem very positive. But there is no chance we can play them at a neutral venue," the PCB senior official reiterated.
A BCB security team has recently toured Pakistan to check the security arrangements in the country. But there have been reports of late that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to defer the decision on sending its team to Pakistan until after
the board meeting of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625, scheduled to be held in Dubai next month. Asked to comment on the latest proceeding, The PCB COO said that Pakistan cannot wait till the ICC meeting as by that time it would be too late for them to arrange the series.
