PCB includes Usman Salahuddin in stipend category of central contracts – Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included the 20-year-old batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Salahuddin-c94700, in the stipend category of the central contracts list.
The members of PCB’s central contract committee, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zakir-Khan-c98546, have suggested the name of the Lahore-born emerging batsman, Salahuddin, to be considered for the category.
“Usman is a fine player and is performing consistently. In a review meeting his name came under discussion and it was agreed that he should be awarded central contract,” Intikhab affirmed.
Previously, the governing body of cricket in Pakistan did not offer contract to the right-handed batsman while announcing the list of the contracted players.
However, PCB has been under massive criticism by the ex-cricketers over their decision to ignore the talented batsman.
The legendary fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 was surprised with the decision to dump Salahuddin, and stated that PCB has been following inconsistent policies.
“Usman got just two one-day matches and being a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy performer, he was sent back home before the Test series.” Akram had cited.
The former slow left-arm orthodox spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980, also lashed out on PCB, and slammed them for selecting talented lads just for a series to show that they are following domestic cricket.
"If a youngster does well in the domestic circuit, he is rewarded with a spot in the Pakistan squad for a tour only for sightseeing" Qasim had said.
Earlier, the selection committee picked Salahuddin, who is the son of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s former domestic player, Salahuddin Rana, in the squad for the Caribbean tour.
He played 2 One Day Internationals during the Caribbean tour, scoring 13 runs with an average of 6.50, and recently was dropped from the squad, which was announced for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045’s tour.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salahuddin-c88062 has been phenomenal with his recital in the domestic ranks of the country, and highlighted his name as one of the best young batsmen.
The middle-order batsman, who also represented Pakistan Under-19 team, has played 24 First-Class matches, and 13 List ‘A’ fixtures, earning 1505, and 292 runs respectively.
After the heavy criticism and considering Salahuddin’s domestic performance, eventually compelled PCB to grant him the contract.
