PCB lifts ban on Rana Naved ul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990
The PCB in another move has lifted the ban on the Pakistan fast bowler Rana Naved ul Hasan, following his meetings with the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 not only is under fire from the parliamentary committee on sports but
during his two year tenure as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board he has taken Pakistan cricket from the darkness to the literal pits of ignominy.
Butt has been accused of appointing his relatives and friends on key PCB posts and ever since his appointment has been ruling PCB carte blanche. PCB and bad governance has resulted in severe criticism from the local and international media as well, where
fines were slapped, punishments awarded only to be pardoned time and again. The PCB is now considered as the sick man of the cricketing world.
Rana Naved who was one of the seven players to be fined by the PCB following the erratic series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 earlier in February, pleaded his case however the PCB did not seemed convinced. These players were alleged to have been indulging in deliberate
underperformance that led to the embarrassing defeat against the Australians.
In recent news, it has been revealed that the one year ban on Rana Naved has finally been lifted by the PCB that has cleared way for the bowler to bowl again for the national side.
Apart from Rana and Younis Khan the rest of the players who were fined and banned, have since been pardoned and have played for the national side.
"Rana's one-year ban has been lifted and his Rs 2 million fine has also been halved," Taffazul Rizvi, the board's legal advisor said.
The decision to lift the ban comes in the wake of the announcement by the PCB of the national team that is to play against South Africa, later this month. However it is also imperative to note that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 seems to be going in the Test matches with only
one specialist fast bowler Umar Gul while other selections have suffered a lot despite having been given a chance.
Mohammad Sami who has been picked for the national side in the upcoming tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 has an appalling Test bowling average of over 50 and leaves one big question mark on the criteria of selection.
Rana is now expected to take part in the PCB Twenty20 tournament that is to take place on the domestic circuit. If he is not picked for the Pakistan squad for their tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854
in the Big Bash, of which he was a part of last year as well.
“I'm confident I can get back into the Pakistan side. I'm fit, I'm bowling well and I believe I can contribute," Rana told a news correspondent.
One can only hope that he still has something to give to the Pakistan side, but it is high time, the older players pave way for the younger lot to represent Pakistan at the international level.
