PCB looking at Wasim Akram to train the young fast bowlers – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking to hire the services of the legendary fast bowler and former captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, to coach the younger generation of bowlers.
The board is planning to organise a camp for the emerging players at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, later this month and the Director of International Cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380 revealed that PCB will request the great cricketer to groom the youngsters.
The 46-year-old is without doubt the best left-arm fast bowler in the history of the game and is also included in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Hall of Fame. With more than 900 wickets at the ultimate level of the sport, Wasim has been a role model for young sportsmen all around
the world and his class is unquestionable.
Akram is the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders and his franchise went on to win the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former Pakistan captain’s influence was quite visible in KKR’s performance this year as their bowlers led the way
for the team throughout the tournament.
Intikhab expressed that the board understands that Akram has a busy schedule as he works as a commentator as well for an international sports channel but hopes that the former left-arm fast bowler will take some time out for his country, which will provide
a massive opportunity to the youngsters to enhance their game.
"I hope Wasim can spare some time out of his schedule and give some time for the camp because the players can learn from his experience and skills," Intikhab said.
Wasim has worked with PCB previously as well, as the board organised summer camps in past, in which the legendary cricketer helped the upcoming fast bowlers. In one of these camps in 2007, Akram spotted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 and tipped them for
a bright future in international cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has a number of talented young fast bowlers who have been doing well in the domestic circuit since the last couple of seasons and they can surely turn out to be match-winners for the country, if they are ably guided.
It remains to be seen how Akram responds to PCB’s offer.
