PCB mulling over sending delegation to India to check security arrangements – Cricket News Update
Relieved after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the itinerary for the short-limited overs series between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board is now mulling over sending a delegation across the border to assess the security arrangements there, before sending its players in late December.
While speaking to media reporters after the BCCI revealed the dates and venues for the one-day series, the PCB chief, Zaka Ashraf said that though the Pakistan Cricket Board has full confidence in the arrangements made by their Indian counterparts, they will send a team there to coordinate things with them, but only after consulting with the government.
"We have full confidence in the security and arrangements being made by the Indian board but the delegation will be going there to take stock and coordinate things with them," said Zaka Ashraf while speaking to media reports at Gaddafi Stadium, in Lahore.
As per itinerary revealed by the Indian cricket board, the Pakistan team will arrive in India on December 22, and will open the series with a T20 International at Bangalore two days later. Ahmedabad will host the second T20 on December 27. The three-match ODI series gets underway in Chennai on December 30, and will be followed by matches at Kolkata (January 3) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 (January 6).
This is the first bilateral contact between the nemeses in the last five years. The two teams last played a bilateral series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, in November 2008.
Even though it was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 is hoping for the Indian players to visit them as well in the future.
"...nothing could be achieved without the understanding of the Indian board and governments," admitted the PCB chief, adding, “I hope in future their team plays in Pakistan , if the security situation improves (in Pakistan)."
