Dean Jones, the former Australian batsman who had shown his interest in taking up the coaching responsibilities of Pakistan's cricket team would be disappointed to know that the PCB has ruled out the possibility completely.
“It's out of the question. The Board is planning to contact a few coaches for the job but I can tell you that he (Jones) doesn't figure prominently on their list," added a PCB source.
The source negated the reports that Jones was one of the preferred candidates for the coaching post, revealing that the three member committee designated by PCB for hiring a coach for the national team was not impressed by his
achievements.
"I have always wanted to coach and the opportunity came along so I put my hand up," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jones-c69217 was reported as saying earlier.
Last week, while talking to a news paper, Jones told that he had applied for the coaching post in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket and was hopeful that he would be among the short-listed candidates.
"He (Jones) doesn't have much coaching experience and that's something which goes against him," revealed the source.
The committee is reported to have short-list five candidates, including local as well as foreign talents. Former Pakistani pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dermot-Alexander-Reeve-c53787 are also reported to be among the short-listed
candidates.
The sources also told that there were many reasons for not hiring Jones, and one of which was his controversial personality; therefore, the committee, headed by former team manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, did not find him as the right
choice.
PCB was supposed to find a coach who could fill the void created by Waqar Younis’ resignation. Waqar announced his retirement before the national team’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
The former pacer who had been serving Pakistan Cricket as coach for the past couple of years, cited health and personal issues for his departure.
However, PCB appointed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ilyas-c76945 was appointed as an acting member of the board’s selection committee.
