The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zulqarnain-c98682 Haider, who is under investigation for last year’s sudden disappearance from the team’s hotel in Dubai.
The controversial wicket-keeper, last year, unexpectedly fled to London, before the fifth One-Day international against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
The run-away wicket-keeper later revealed that he received death threats from some bookies, who wanted him to indulge in match-fixing.
He then sought asylum in London and spent almost sixth months there, leaving his family here in Pakistan. The 25-year-old also announced his retirement from International cricket.
Since Zulqarnain had recently started his International career, he had just played four ODIs and two Test matches, but his payment was withheld after his disappearance. His central contract with PCB was also dissolved and the Board issued him a questionnaire
asking all the details behind the incident.
According to a senior official of the PCB, the player has been paid 40 percent of his dues for representing Pakistan against the Proteas.
The national board is supposed to pay 1.9 million to Zulqarnain, which includes outstanding match fees, tour fees, allowances and share of logo sponsorship and bonus awards.
The Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmed, said that a fraction of the amount is released to the player as he has been going through some financial crisis.
Zulqarnain returned home in April, after Pakistan Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, gave assurance of his and his family’s security.
On reaching Pakistan, he was provided with proper security and was kept at a secret location in Islamabad for some days.
The wicket-keeper batsman expressed his wish to resume his cricketing career with Pakistan team, but he will be allowed to participate in domestic and international cricket by the PCB, only after facing the disciplinary committee.
The PCB has also summoned http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 and some other players along with the team’s management, regarding Zulqarnain’s case. As earlier, the wicket-keeper revealed that Umar’s behaviour was strange with him during the ODI series in November.
