PCB presses http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 to respond to showcause notice – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded the former Pakistani skipper, Javed Miandad, to respond to the legal notice served to him earlier this month for his alleged breach of contract. The board plans to take stringent steps against him if the delays
or avoids response.
The PCB has set a deadline, for the coming Monday, September 26, for the legendry cricketer to submit a written explanation. However, Miandad is still tight-lipped about the matter.
Talking to the media, a PCB official said, “We have told him that he should respond by the Monday to the notice as per the process. If he does not respond than we will see the next course of action.”
He also revealed, “The board's chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, is obviously not happy that Miandad during the meeting went against the policy of the board to have the National Twenty20 championship in Lahore and suggested that it be shifted to Karachi.”
Miandad, who is working as a Director General of PCB, criticised the governing body a few weeks back, terming almost 90 percent of its policies wrong and detrimental to the development of cricket in Pakistan. He also revealed some wrongdoings of the board
high-ups and demanded a overhaul in the managerial process.
The ex-captain’s sour statements irked the board which reacted immediately by sending him a showcause notice.
The PCB managers believe that Miandad’s ‘irresponsible’ remarks have earned them sheer disrepute in the eyes of the International cricket community. They opine that he should have avoided doing so, being a key member of the board.
Miandad’s comments have been welcomed in circles which consider the PCB's policies detrimental to Pakistan cricket.
The legendary cricketer represented the Men in Green in 124 Test and 233 ODI matches, scoring 8832 and 7381 runs respectively. His International cricket career ranged from 1975 to 1996 and the 54-year-old brought home many iconic trophies and titles during
his tenure as captain.
