The Cricket Board of Pakistan is most likely to rescind the central contracts of 5 notable players ahead of the series against Zimbabwe, the players most likely to be axed, include the likes of Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal.
According to reports, Shoaib Malik is in line to get a central contract, provided he gets his clearance by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board’s Integrity Committee.
However the most notable of the likely exclusions, was former captain, Shahid Afridi, who recently announced his retirement from One-Day Cricket after a major dispute with Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 and later the PCB itself.
The other players who are unlikely to get new contracts include wicket-keeper, Kamran Akmal, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080.
While Akhtar will not be in the contract list for obvious reasons, Akmal and Razzaq have been given the axe after their disappointing performances in the recent World Cup 2011.
The source said, “The likes of Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar are out because they have announced their retirements while players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 and Ahmed Shahzad have not got the nod from the selectors this time because of number of issues,
mainly inconsistent form and performances.”
Apart from Shahzad, all above mentioned players were in the A-list category of contracted players, receiving 250,000 Pakistani Rupees per month.
The reports have suggested that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, are the most likely candidates to get the A-list contracts.
Pakistan’s latest assignment is the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595, recently announced the squad that has some interesting call ups.
There are three uncapped players, namely http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665, will also be making a return.
Moreover, former captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088, was also named among the standbys. However, he needs the clearance from the Integrity committee and many believe that if he does so, he too will most likely be given an A-list contract.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fawad-Alam-c56883 will be awarded with retainers according to the source close to the PCB.
