PCB should have urged BCB for a full tour, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asif-Iqbal-c46477 – Cricket News Update
The former Pakistan captain, Asif Iqbal, is happy with the news that international cricket is about to return to Pakistan with the short tour of Bangladesh but he feels that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have taken a stronger stance towards Bangladesh.
International cricket has been away from Pakistan since the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team back in 2009. Since then, Pakistan has been playing all its matches away from home.
However, things have started to improve in the country and the PCB held positive talks with the BCB in recent months. PCB agreed to support the vice-presidency bid of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122, the Chairman of BCB, at the International Cricket Council on the condition
that Bangladesh will send its team to Pakistan for a bilateral series.
Initially, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB) had committed for a full tour but things changed dramatically at the conclusion of the Asia Cup 2012. However, the BCB recently announced that its team will play a solitary One Day International and T20 match
at Lahore later this month.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Iqbal expressed that he is happy to see an international team visiting Pakistan but added that the PCB should have urged the BCB for a full tour, as committed earlier.
“Make no mistake, the announcement of this tour is a positive development. However, as you know, the BCB and PCB had agreed on a full tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 prior to the Asia Cup. The PCB should have taken a firm stance and told BCB in no uncertain terms that
they should abide by their earlier decision,” Iqbal added.
The former Pakistan captain also slammed the BCB for raising an objection after the final of the Asia Cup 2012. As per the BCB, Pakistan’s fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961 had intentionally blocked the way of the Bengali batsman in the last over of the match. However,
Iqbal feels that the step taken by the BCB was not in good taste.
He added, “Once the unfortunate issue surrounding the Asia Cup final became known and I don’t want to go into that as I find that distasteful that the BCB had filed a complaint once the match was done and dusted.”
