PCB should not experiment with a foreign coach, feels Aamer Sohail – Cricket News Update
The former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aamer-Sohail-c41418 is not in favour of a foreign coach and has said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should hire a local as coach as it is always difficult for a foreign coach to culturally adjust into Pakistan cricket.
The former coach of the Pakistan team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 has been working with the team as an interim coach.
There is a high probability that the PCB is going to appoint former Australian cricketer, Dav Whatmore as the mentor of the Pakistan team and he may visit Lahore sometime in January to finalise the terms and conditions of his contract.
However, cricket analysts in the country feel that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 has been doing a good job as the coach and there is no need to change a winning combination.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Aamer expressed that Pakistan has experimented with foreign coaches in the past as well and that did not work. He feels that the PCB should trust local coaches.
Aamer feels that the impact a coach makes is limited and if the coach had a greater influence, then it would reflect in the performances of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and Sri Lanka, who have both appointed foreign candidates.
The former captain said, “We have tried and tested foreign coaches previously and I think it's about time we should start banking on our own resources and build their own capacity. Around the world you will see so many teams with Australian coaches at the
helm, but that does not guarantee success.”
However, Aamer did praise the past performances of Whatmore but he also questioned the impact the Aussie would make on Pakistan cricket because his recent performances as a coach are not impressive.
“I'm a big fan of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket?” he added.
