PCB slaps fines on three players for breaking curfew in Dubai

Pakistan opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, along with Abdul Rehman and the wicketkeeper of the squad Zulqarnain Haider have been fined 500 Dirhams for breaking the curfew during their tour of Dubai
for the ODI series against Proteas.
This has been implemented as per the Pakistan Cricket Board’s revised code of conduct, following the ICC suggestions in the wake of spot-fixing controversy. "We have reminded the players that there will be no tolerance on indiscipline and after these three
players returned late to the team hotel by five minutes they have been fined and issued show-cause notices," said team manager Intikhab Alam. "All the players have been told about their responsibility and that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket is first and foremost, so we
think that stricter steps will bring good results."
The PCB were made to revise their code of conduct after the board was under heavy scrutiny following the spot fixing allegations. Ijaz Butt then further strained the board’s relations with ICC after he suggested the sacking of ICC chief executive Haroon
Lorgat and heavily defended his statement issued against ECB where he alleged that some English players had accepted enormous amounts of money to throw away the Oval ODI. Those erratic remarks resulted in the ECB threatening http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 with legal action if
he did not issue a public apology.
The ICC then gave PCB an ultimatum to clean up their act or else face consequences. PCB since then has implemented some strict anti corruption measures, a move that has been welcomed by the ICC. PCB has also set up an Integrity committee which will be responsible
for addressing issues of corruption and doping.
Earlier this month, the PCB revoked central contacts of the tainted trio who was accused of spot fixing by a British tabloid. ICC provisionally suspended these players and their appeals against the suspensions which were heard in Dubai during the last few
days of October have been dismissed. These players have also been barred from using the facilities of Gaddafi stadium for training purposes.
