PCB suspends contracts of Butt, Amir and Asif - reports
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board have suspended the central contracts of tarnished trio Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, it has been reported.
Butt, Amir and Asif have been provisionally suspended from cricket by the ICC since September 2nd, the date cricket’s governing body charged the three Pakistan players under their Anti-Corruption Code in the wake of allegations by tabloid newspaper the News of the World that a group of Pakistan players had been involved in spot-fixing (revolving around the delivery of no-balls at predetermined points in the innings) in the team’s Test against England at Lord’s.
Amir and Butt had appealed their suspensions to the ICC Code of Conduct Commission, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to get them overturned when their appeals were heard at the end of October. Asif did not choose to challenge his provisional suspension.
“After considering all the evidence [chairman of the ICC Code of Conduct Commission] Mr Beloff has rejected both challenges,” the ICC said in a statement on October 31st. “As such, the players remain provisionally suspended from all cricket pending the outcome of the independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal which will hear their disciplinary cases in due course.”
The fact none of the three are eligible to play for Pakistan until a final decision is made on their cases has now reportedly resulted in the PCB suspending their contracts.
