It seems that the tainted trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif are not going to get back to playing cricket at the highest level any time soon as the governing body of the game in Pakistan has decided to suspend their central
contracts.
The three players were placed in category A of the central contracts and were earning a monthly salary of Rs 250,000 which would not be paid until they have their case with the ICC cleared and the suspension lifted.
The players have been going through the toughest phase of their careers as they are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the spot-fixing controversy that first broke out during the fourth and final test of the series against
England that the Pakistanis played under the leadership of Salman Butt.
Subsequently they were suspended by ICC on the 2 September and the suspension was upheld at the end of a two-day hearing that was carried out by Michael Beloff, the ICC Code of Conduct Commissioner on 30 and 31 October.
The appeal against the suspension was filed by Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir while Asif, who withdrew his appeal ahead of the hearings, also remains provisionally suspended.
'We only give contracts to players who can play for
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Until their cases are decided ... they can't get any benefits from the board in terms of contracts," PCB legal advisor Taffazul Rizvi said.
The news of the suspension of the contract was confirmed by the Director of International Cricket and former fast bowler Zakir Khan.
He claimed that the contracts had to be revoked following the ICC's latest decision.
"Their contracts were active until the appeal hearing, but once their initial appeals were rejected, under the ICC code we can't keep them on contracts”,
he said.
The next step in the process for the players is that they would have to appear before an independent anti-corruption tribunal that will look into the actual charges.
After the end of their probe and based on the findings of the investigations carried on by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard was given a verdict on whether they are innocent or guilty.
Meanwhile former players, legal experts and pundits of the game have blamed the PCB for their attitude in the whole controversy and their decision to back out of their support for the players.
However, PCB claims that the ICC has asked them to follow their code which they have signed just like the rest of full members of the body. That code prohibits them from supporting any player suspended or banned by the governing body of
the game.
Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir have claimed on various TV channels in Pakistan that they have been harshly dealt with by the governing body and they are equally appalled at the behaviour of their own cricket board which has sidelined them
in their hour of need.
They claim that there is a big conspiracy that is aimed at bringing a bad name to the country and disrupt their careers that were heading in the right direction with the players performing well for the team at the highest level.
Mohammad Amir especially was in outstanding bowling form on the tour of England and claimed 30 scalps in the six test matches that Pakistan played there.
He was man-of-the-match on both occasions Pakistan won a test on the tour including the second test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Leeds and the match against England at Oval in London.
Amir’s new ball partner Asif also mesmerized both opponents with his consistent line, length and swing.
