PCB to award central contracts to all the regional teams – Cricket News Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), in a bid to eradicate corruption from the country’s cricket, has decided to give central contracts to all the domestic teams in this season.
"The board has taken the step of giving contracts to all regional teams according to a slab system," the coach of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tauseef-Ahmed-c92905 said.
The reports have revealed that all the players named in the Twenty20 squads for the domestic season, have been given six month central contracts by the board.
Tauseef Ahmed also revealed that the board will pay 20,000 per month to the top five players in a regional team and 15,000 to 10 players in second place and 10, 000 to five players in the third slab.
"It is a good initiative by the board to encourage and offer some financial incentives to players who play at the domestic level. This move means that all regional team players are assured of a monthly salary for six months," Tauseef
said.
One of the board officials told that these steps are being taken as per new International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) anti-corruption measures in the domestic cricket.
The official also explained that the board, on one side is taking steps to educate the players about anti-corruption measures and is also planning for harsh penalties for the culprits. In addition, the board has also decided to
give financial security to the players, during their domestic season.
"Keep in mind that the board pays the regions a separate package to take care of the hotelling and travelling of the regional teams," Tauseef said.
Other than six-month contracts, the board also intends to pay a match fee of rupees 12,000 to 7,000 in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy division one, to the members of the domestic team with 11 players, including the Rs. 750 daily allowance.
All these steps were carried out by selection committee that included regional team coach legislative bodies and a selector nominated by PCB.
