PCB to extend PPL invite to Indian players – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket board chairman Zaka Ashraf has revealed that the board has every intention to issue invites for the Pakistan Premier League to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 players, claiming that he is willing to do whatever it takes to normalise the ties between the two boards.
“It’s up to them whether they want to take part or not but the PCB will send out an invitation,” Ashraf said in a conversation with Pakistani daily,
The Express Tribune. “My aim is to do whatever I can to put the relations between the two boards back on track because the fans want to see Pakistan and India in action.”
Pakistan have been unable to host a series on home soil since the terrorist attack on the touring Sri Lankan team in 2009 called the security situation of the country into question. Unable to generate any income via hosting series, the PCB has been reduced
to looking for alternatives to improve its tight financial situation, further worsened by the added expenses of organising home series in neutral venues abroad, such as the UAE.
Among the many proposed plans the board has been working on is the organisation of a T20 tournament, modelled on the popular neighbouring editions of the Indian Premier League and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League.
While most of the preparations for the PPL are being kept under wraps, it has been revealed that the event is scheduled to be launched in three phases – first two tournaments, at club and national level respectively, followed by the actual T20 competition
which will involve auctions, and bidding on both domestic and overseas players.
Since the cessation of sporting ties, Pakistani players have found themselves excluded from the IPL auctions, but Ashraf is intent on furthering the recent progress in the revival of ties between the two boards.
The two countries last played a bilateral series in 2007, after which the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terrorist attacks in 2008 led to the suspension of diplomatic and cricketing ties between the two nations.
However, the BCCI has recently expressed interest in the resumption of bilateral ties – Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions, have been invited to feature
in the upcoming Champions League T20.
