PCB unhappy over Waqar Younis’ interference in selection matters – News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not pleased with the behaviour of the team’s outgoing coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193, who is reportedly interfering in the team’s selection on the Zimbabwean tour.
A PCB official stated, “Waqar’s being stubborn, doesn’t listen to anybody and selects the players that he wants. Fortunately, we won the Test, but the decision to play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 was not beyond comprehension.”
The official further added, “It was decided beforehand to give every player a chance, but not at the expense of other upcoming player. Waqar is selecting individuals on personal likes and dislikes, which is not the first time he’s done that.”
However, there are lesser chances of the board taking action against Waqar, who will not be a part of the team after the completion of the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045. The head coach had announced before the start of the series that this would be his last assignment.
This is not the first time that the former fast bowler of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 over the same issue.
Afridi and Waqar had developed some serious differences after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 for a complete series.
Soon after returning from the Caribbean tour, Afridi slammed the coach for his unnecessary involvement in the selection matters. However, the board decided to penalise the star all-rounder for breaching the board’s code of conduct.
The 31-year-old was sacked from captaincy and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 was given charge of the team. This did not please the veteran player and he decided to quit international cricket until a new management was formed.
Waqar’s exit from the team might now see Afridi back in action, but it will not be an easy task for him to get the leadership of the team back from Misbah, who has done well as captain of the team.
Misbah has drawn two Test series and won two since 2010 and his record is still 100 percent as skipper in ODI cricket.
