PCB urge BCCI for DRS review - Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Zaka Ashraf, has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to review its position on the Decision Review System (DRS) and support its usage in all international games.
Ashraf said the technology is a great development and a constructive step forward for the game of Cricket, and BCCI being the powerhouse of the sport today must back its implementation.
"I feel accepting the DRS system will be in the larger interest of the sport," he said while talking to the media.
The relationship between the PCB and BCCI have considerably improved in the last few months, evident from the invitation sent by the latter which allowed Pakistan’s premier domestic side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions, to compete in the upcoming CL T20 tournament in

"It is a system which is also beneficial for the umpires in the long run," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 said.
The review system has become a contentious issue in the cricketing world due to one-sided opposition from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 – who claim that the technology is flawed.
The ongoing disagreement was reignited in June, after International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Chief Executives Committee (CEC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur came out recommending the system mandatory for all international matches.
However, a few days later BCCI vetoed the proposal in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 board members’ meeting, much to the dismay of many former greats who retorted BCCI’s stance with severe criticism.
The system employs ball tracking technology (Hawk-Eye), Infra-red imaging (HotSpot) and Snickometer to help the on-field umpire make better decisions while also reducing the number of errors in the game.
At present, the use of DRS is only limited to bilateral series, subject to the agreement of both participating teams, while all its financial cost is borne by the host country.
