PCB waiting for Afridi reply before sacking him
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not decided to sack http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s limited overs team.
The PCB has asked Afridi for an explanation by sending him a show-cause notice on showing reservations regarding interference in other's work.
According to official sources, it seems hard for the skipper of the shorter version of the game to retain himself in the good books of the board chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128.
"Afridi is expected to send his reply to our notice today and so far no decision has been taken on his future as captain", the PCB source said.
The board officials also confirmed that the chairman is not happy with Afridi's approach and his eagerness to highlight controversial issues publicly.
The all-rounder, who has always been keeping himself in the media because of his attitude, forced PCB to consider intensely before appointing the captain for the World Cup.
Rumors were also floating in the press on the tour of New Zealand, which told of senior players and team management expressing their concerns with the board over Afridi’s captaincy.
The PCB chairman travelled to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 so as to discuss with the players and the management before making the decision.
"Even then the board had warned, Boom Boom Afridi, to avoid giving too many statements in the media and not to discuss team issues. In fact during a meeting, the PCB Chairman had told Afridi to be careful in future. The delay in announcing the captain for
the World Cup was to give a clear message to Afridi that he was not indispensable", the source added.
Meanwhile, the super star said that they need to fix all interruptions and controversies before the Twenty20 World Cup to repeat the history of 2009, where Pakistan won the title.
"I always say everyone should do their own job and it is not appropriate to interfere in the matters of others. I am responsible for my work and the others are responsible for theirs", Boom Boom said on his return from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Even though Afridi did not highlight any name, his statement annoyed the PCB, as they have taken notice of differences between the aggressive all rounder and the team management in West Indies.
The sources stated that if PCB removes Afridi from the captaincy there is a possibility that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 will be appointed to lead the team.
