PCB wants BCCI to compensate the cancelled series of 2009 – Cricket News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded its Indian counterpart, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to concede some sort of compensation for the bilateral cricket series of 2009, which was abandoned by the latter due to security concerns.
The PCB has reiterated that its stance on resuming cricketing ties with India is clear and open but it cannot comply to the International Cricket Council’s Future Tour Programmes (FTPs) unless the BCCI agrees to compensate the loss Pakistan suffered for
skipping the home series two years back.
The PCB has also appealed its Indian counterpart to arrange a formal meeting between the cricket authorities of the two nations in order to settle down all the core issues that are delaying the resumption of bilateral cricket.
Talking to the media, the PCB's Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmad, said, “The truth is right now everything is in the air. And frankly speaking even our policy on resuming bilateral cricket ties with India would only be made once we get a formal invitation
from the Indians for a meeting or for next year's series in India.”
He further told, “Our line is very clear even now we want resumption of bilateral cricket ties with India as soon as possible. But obviously we also have in mind that India has to compensate us for the FTP tour they didn't undertake in early 2009.”
