PCB wants India to play a compensatory series for the cancelled tour of 2009 – Cricket News Update
The Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board, Subhan Ahmad, said on Sunday that the PCB has no issues in visiting India early next tour but insisted that India should also consider http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s proposal of playing a compensatory series at some neutral
venue.
While talking to the media reporters on Sunday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Said-c42354 that playing a compensating series with India would be part of PCB official’s agenda for the next month’s ICC Chief Executives meeting.
"Next month we will be in London for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 awards and chief executives meeting and hopefully we will take up these issues with the Indian board officials," Subhan told the media reporters on Sunday, August 28.
"Yes, we are due to tour India early next year as part of the Future Tours Program but before that we feel the Indian board should compensate us with a series for that cancelled tour that cost us millions of dollars in estimated revenues,” he added further.
The PCB chief operating officer said that if India cannot play a series in Pakistan due to security concerns then playing a series at some neutral venue is also an option. He stressed that Pakistan wants to revive the bilateral series with India but the
resumption of cricketing ties should start with a compensatory series for the 2009 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks in November 2008 causing millions of dollars worth of loss to the hosts.
India were scheduled to tour Pakistan in early 2009 to play a three-match Test series, five One Day Internationals and a one off T20 International. Since then, the arch rivals had not played each other in a bilateral match.
The World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan in Mohali earlier this year prompted both the countries to think over resuming the cricketing ties. But now PCB wants their Indian counterparts to first compensate for the 2009 tour and then start a new
era of bilateral cricket series.
Pakistan Cricket Board had claimed that due to BCCI’s cancellation of the 2009 tour they lost out an estimated earnings of about 30 million US dollars.
