http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board and in fact the whole cricket-thing is in turmoil nowadays. Right from the position of the Chairman of the PCB to the selection of the team, all the things are dealt with a rather unprofessional, naïve and biased stance.
Piecemeal and transitory policies from PCB management are leading this already abysmal situation further down the pathway to an utter fiasco. Unity of thought is literally missing in the PCB, whether it’s the matter of match fixing or poor team performance, every incumbent of PCB is individually out there to air his personal views about the issue. The involvement of ugly politics in PCB is taking it pretty close to an ultimate disaster.
Currently the entire cricket world sees Pakistan with a bad eye, the major reasons being many the lapse of security in the attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Lahore, the suspicion of a trio of Pakistani players being involved in spot-fixing, the blatant ongoing rising intensity of tussle among the PCB officials etc. Utter lack of communication between the players and the management is conspicuous to the entire world.
The officials should have it on their minds that any gesture of irresponsibility on their part can create a real havoc for the image of the entire nation. PCB is certainly not on the right track, but it still has the time to pause, reflect and retract before plunging the most beloved game deep down the quagmire of fatal destruction.
First of all the management staff should be selected on professional grounds and not on the basis of political patronage. Retired cricketers can be a reasonable choice to this end. Positions in the Board should be assigned on the basis of relevant experience and know-how of the game. The whole staff and the players should work together as one unit. No statement or policy should be made public without taking the whole Board in confidence. Only those players should be chosen who meet the fitness criteria and can perform their best in distinct formats and conditions. New talented players should be trained well to grasp the level of international cricket and given proper chances along with the senior players. Contracts of the players should be devised in the best possible manner so as to avoid any manifestation of indiscipline from the players.
In a nut shell, PCB has to play professionally in all its affairs to clean-sweep all the woes surrounding it.
