PCB's letter in defence of spot-fixing trio rejected by ICC, will try again
The Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Ejaz Butt has said that they tried to fight the case on behalf of the three cricketers, Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, who had been suspended for allegations of spot-fixing but their efforts were turned away by the International Cricket Council. Butt claimed that the PCB had sent a letter to the ICC on the players’ behalf but the ICC had rejected the letter and instructed the PCB to send different letters from each one of the three.

The PCB chairman, who hadn’t spoken since the ICC suspended the three players, said that the PCB will now send individual letters from the three players within the stipulated period of 14 days.

Butt had been in London throughout the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s tour of England so far, and arrived in Pakistan only yesterday. He was greeted with jeers and anti-PCB slogans and needed security to be taken away to the PCB office. Speaking to the media, Butt did say, "Investigations are under way and police has yet to charge any player. We are very concerned over the allegations and since we too have zero tolerance against corruption, we also want this to finish soon.

He also added that the PCB will take action against any cricketer who was found guilty of match-fixing.

The PCB chief also said that he was called up by the Pakistani manager, Yawar Saeed, to inform him about the allegations of match-fixing when they had broken out on August 28. According to Butt, Saeed had called him up to say that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard police had warrants to search the players’ rooms.

Later, the ICC had sprung into action and suspended the three players suspected of having links with the match-fixers.

It was also reported by a cricket website, Cricinfo, that the one of the PCB officials had criticised the decision to suspend the players without proof. According to the website, the official is said to have said that the ICC acted in haste.
