Question:

PCG-C1VN Sony Picturebook: No Video but Powers On?

The laptop would power on but after I replaced the hard drive no video at all. I hear the HD spinning but no video. I re-checked the ribbons and they look like the way they should. I do not think it is the motherboard because the HD would not have power on. I take out HD and I can still hear the system powering up with no video. I followed stevebarr.com and tomsguide.com with no avail to the problem. I looked at the video cable and they look like they should. Any ideas?

  1. OK well you might have a problem with your screen or your graphics card.  If you have an external monitor laying around, try plugging it into your machine; if you do get a picture, your monitor is probably whats causing the problem.  If you don't, you may have a problem with your graphics card and this is beyond my scope of help; if this is the case, I would recommend taking it in to a professional.
