This is an open question for health professionals.

I am researching whether PCOS rates have been rising recently because stress is increasing. Could stress at work and home linked to PCOS in some way?

What are your opinions and comments on this?

  2. Well, in my studies of PCOS, I have found that PCOS is more closely linked with insulin resistance and obesity.  They cause women to have higher testosterone levels, which leads to PCOS's primary effects.

However, women with PCOS who are overweight tend to carry their excess weight in the abdomen... which has been linked to excess Cortisol in the body... which is increased by stress.  So that is something to think about.

I would have to say that in my opinion, PCOS rates are increasing because the number of overweight and obese people is increasing.  Sugary foods and fatty foods = Obesity = Insulin Resistance = PCOS
