Question:

PCOS with regular periods?

My first period arrived when I was fifteen, and since then I've had a period every single month without fail. The problem is, my periods can last anywhere from 7-10 days, and then there's usually 45 days from the day of my previous period to the next one.

I recently had an ultrasound and found many small follicles on my ovaries, to which my OBGyn said, "Oh you're polycystic." and then pretty much left it at that. No suggestions on how to take care of it, nothing. So was this an actual diagnosis, and am I in fact Polycystic Ovarian? I'm thinking of seeking a second opinion, but I'd like to hear from those of you who've been there.

Thanks in advance.

  1. You have PCOS. It causes your periods to be irregular. Everything`s alright though, PCOS won`t effect you greatly. If you can deal with irregular periods and sometimes missing one or two then you`ll be fine. If you want to regulate them you can always go on the birth control pill.

  2. sounds like it was a diagnosis to me. you could go to the same doctor or call them and ask questions. i think you should get a second opinion though. its what i would do. the only think i know of they do for anything like that is birth control to regulate it, and sometimes make it lighter or shorter. sorry i don't know more. my opinion get a second opinion from a different doctor.
