PDA/ Cell Phone- Blackberry or Treo or any other?

I need to get a cell phone/ pda for anesthesia school. I need to download some software (which isn't all avail from Apple) to it. I have heard that Treo's and Blackberry's are good. Which one should I get? Any idea what the service plan is like? I don't use a cell phone much so I am looking for a cheap plan.

If you are talking about epocrates (anytime I see medicine and PDA in the same sentence it's virtually always that), they just released a iPhone version.  If not, while there are plenty of differences between the two the for me it really comes down to what is more important to you: having a far larger library of applications available to you on the palm or having your email pushed to your device so even in spotty coverage you have your email with you.
