I am going on a Thomas Cook A320, and i wish to use my PDA. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and they both can be disabled.

If i can use it - when can i (Take off, Landing, Cruising)?

The main reason for use will be the Media Player function.

  1. All wireless functions must be turned off at all times.

You are not allowed to have any electronics on or have earphones on during take-off and landing.

You are ok to use the electronics in anyway during cruising time (as long as  wireless functions are off)

  2. all electronic devices must be turned off until the captain notifies the crew that you may turn it back on.

  3. All electronic devices must be completely switched off during take-off and landing. Once the aircraft has reached a safe altitude (which varies), then it is safe to turn on your PDA as long as the receiving and transmitting capabilities (wi-fi and Bluetooth) remain disabled. As a precaution and also so as not to waste time once it is safe to use it, I would advise you to disable the receiving and transmitting capabilities prior to board the aircraft and switch those back on upon landing.

  4. You can use the PDA once you reach 10,000 feet and the flight attendant has authorized the use of portable electronics, and when the pilot starts to make his initial decent into the airport you will be asked to turn electronics off for landing.
